Battery passport and access levels

From 18 Feb 2027 LMT batteries, industrial batteries above 2 kWh and EV batteries need a digital battery passport. This is how to get started.

  1. Create the battery model

Go to Batteries and choose New battery. Enter category, capacity, chemistry and weight, and link the battery to the product it is fitted in. Category and capacity decide which fields apply.

  2. Ask the supplier for data

Press the "Ask" button with the supplier's name under What's missing. The cell or battery supplier gets a link and uploads data sheets, the performance document, composition and dismantling information.

  3. Approve the values

The values from the documents appear under To review with page and excerpt. You fill in the rest yourself or mark it not applicable with a reason.

  4. Follow the access tiers

The battery passport splits information into public and restricted under Annex XIII. On the battery's page you see how much is missing in each tier and how many days are left.

  5. Issue the declaration and publish the passport

When what applies now is answered, you issue the EU declaration of conformity under Annex IX. The battery needs a GTIN before the passport can be published with a QR code. You can preview the passport both public and with restricted access.

Who sees what (Annex XIII)
